We work on average 1,866 hours per year.  That’s not counting the overtime, the business trips away, the training and the conferences we attend.

If you are unhappy at work, generally this translates to being unhappy with life.

In his book Atomic Habits, James Clear talks about this:

“One of the most effective things you can do to build better habits is to join a culture where your desired behaviour is the normal behaviour…Your culture sets your expectation for what is ‘normal.’ Surround yourself with people who have the habits you want to have yourself. You’ll rise together.”

Sometimes we just aren’t the right fit for the organisation that we are in. 

Our values don’t align with the business’, their culture doesn’t sit well with us; we have no ‘allies’ within the business that we can lean on.

And that’s tough to stomach every day…
