I have always centred my recruitment career around NEW business.  Why not old business?  Why not a warm client?  Because what has been and gone before you is NOT under your control.

The phrase ‘it is easier to give birth than raise the dead’ is a phrase that my Dad taught me from an early age.  When I was aged 8-11, as a family, we lived in Holland and France.  My Dad was a highly skilled salesperson who had an incredible way with people.

He was often given call lists to work through with clients that had been spoken with previously, and he would avoid these ‘warm’ customers; instead preferring to be the FIRST introduction to the company.  This way, he avoided past mistakes, past inadequacies, and past problems.  He could focus his energy on the clients that didn’t have a past history with the organisation that may or may not be favourable.

I think this phrase is relevant in all aspects of life.

There are friendships that have drifted over the years for a reason, ex-partners that should probably be better left in the past and job roles that should never be repeated…

Giving birth means being open to changes/opportunities/the new.

Returning to the past can mean reliving the pain, the heartache, and the disappointment.
