Recruitment fees have always been a barrier in our industry.

Talking to a client recently, though, I see how much certain agencies are charging to further exasperate the problem.

The manufacturing business had recently recruited someone in their finance department from a high street agency.  The fee was £16,000.  The candidate didn’t work out and having discovered this post-rebate period; that can now be written off as a very expensive mistake.

Recruitment is never guaranteed fully.  We are dealing with people who can often present one way at interview and a completely different way once safely in the role.

With K.A.G. our fees are very transparent.  It is 15% of the salary for an exclusive appointment, 17.5% for contingent recruitment. We have a rebate sliding scale up until 12 weeks.

I think in this day and age when budgets from businesses are tighter than ever and redundancy is high, the agencies that are charging 20% and above (in this case 22.5%) need to consider what extra value they are offering businesses for these highly inflated rates.
