Livestock Buyer

We have an amazing new opportunity available for a Livestock Buyer to join a market leading Food Manufacturer based in the West Midlands.

Role:             Livestock Buyer

Salary:         Competitive + Company Car and Bonus

Location:     West Midlands

Purpose of the Role:

As the Livestock Buyer you will be responsible for creating and developing relationships with local farmers, suppliers and collection centres helping to secure the supply of deadweight ewes and lambs direct to site. Whilst this role is predominantly site based, as part of your role, you will be visiting farms to assess and grade livestock, coordinate transport and ensure that the right specification of animals arrive on site at the right time and day to maximise value for both parties.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

Purchase livestock in line with the sites production plans

Liaise with administration functions in regard to pricing & traceability

Carry out farm visits offering advice on nutrition, selection & breeding

Ensure livestock deliveries are as planned

Carry out tasks in accordance with current animal welfare legislation and company operating procedures at all times about safe movements, handling, and production

Contribute to the recording and maintenance of slaughter information and data

The successful candidate will have previous practical livestock experience ideally within the British Sheep Industry. You will have an affinity with the agricultural community and be resilient to deal with the challenges involved with this industry and position.

An excellent communicator, you will possess strong communications skills and people skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with Suppliers, Farmers and Livestock Agents

You will be a self-motivated, results driven individual with the ability to manage your own workload.
