We’re searching for a highly skilled and motivated Multi Skilled Engineer to join our client in their expanding Engineering team based in Herefordshire.
About the Role:
As a Multi Skilled Engineer, your mission is to optimize machinery output, elevate product quality, and minimize plant downtime. You’ll achieve this through effective preventative maintenance and swift responses, all while upholding a safe and healthy environment and championing engineering best practices.

Location : Herefordshire
Salary: £36,232.56, with an additional shift allowance of £3,603.60.
A Glimpse into Your Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in the creation of a cutting-edge PPM system, ensuring professional and timely planned maintenance.
- Execute engineering maintenance in alignment with the current schedule, swiftly implementing effective corrective actions.
- Rapidly and effectively respond to breakdowns, identifying root causes and proposing preventative measures.
- Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Shift Supervisor/Mill Manager, working closely with operations to minimize disruptions.
- Maintain meticulous records of lost time, breakdown causes, and required parts.
- Uphold high engineering standards and hygiene practices.
- Ensure all activities adhere to company and legislative health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
- Assist with PUWER, LOLER, Risk Assessments, and related tasks.
- Ensure compliance through routine weigher and Liquid meter calibrations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in engineering operations in hazardous environments, including confined space work, hot work, and working at heights.
- Participate in mechanical and electrical projects and installations.
- Efficiently operate effluent plant systems for environmental compliance.
- Understand and manage fire suppression systems.
- Follow established escalation routes for unscheduled plant downtime and minimize it through sound engineering practices.
- Have a grasp of environmental impacts, including DSEAR, dust controls, and explosion mitigation.
- Initiate spares stock and non-stock request forms/emails.
Qualifications for Success:
- Essential qualifications: Relevant engineering trade qualification, 4+ years of engineering experience, and an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering.
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical processes and assemblies, with electrical or welding/fabrication experience.
- Self-motivated, capable of multitasking, and thriving in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, emails) for record-keeping and spares ordering.
- Food manufacturing experience is desirable.
- IEE 17th or 18th Edition qualification is desirable.
- PLC experience is desirable.
- Air and pneumatics training is desirable.
- Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) certification is desirable.
