Job Title: Business Change Manager
Location: Birmingham – Hybrid
Package: Circa 100,000
What can this role offer to you?
Every day will be different, and with a constant desire for change from colleagues you will need to use your Manufacturing / Food industry experience to be effective in delivering the change that the business needs to remain market leader. Your many years of experience within different functional areas of IT will mean you are comfortable leading the teams who are responsible for implementing change from concept through to delivery and will know what they need to be successful. You will be a natural leader, setting the best example to team members, championing the IT department and working with senior stakeholders to effectively prioritise initiatives. Making sure that team members have the right skills and attitude, ensuring they are developed, and ready to progress will be second nature to you. The business is fast paced and demanding so you will need to be confident and decisive, sometimes with limited information.
Change within the business comes in many forms, from small change requests (adding functions to existing products), projects (implementing standard systems into third party ColdStores to track stock) and programmes (supporting the implementation of newly acquired sites into the business). Delivery is predominantly done by internal teams and we strive to use standard products, utilising offshore software development teams only to build solutions that provide us with competitive advantage. This is a role that will excite you by the breadth of the role, size of the business, and different approaches to delivery.
Accountabilities:
- Delivery of all change activity using standard business change processes; this covers change requests, projects, and programmes which are implemented using an Agile (Scrum) approach to delivery.
- Develop a strategy for change, ensuring our processes are robust, measured, and effective.
- Manage the establishment of a strategic, operational, and technical decision-making process that ensures change deliverables are aligned to the organisation’s priorities and risk appetite.
- Assist the IT Director in key elements such as stakeholder management, business case creation, succession planning, and more.
- Develop and maintain policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework for change is applied across the organisation.
- Create and share reports with the IT leadership team, identifying performance issues, process bottlenecks and suggest options and recommendations for improvement.
- Review and enhance the current process designs and discuss recommendations with the IT Leadership team.
- Design an appropriate IT operating model (consider outsourcing and insourcing models) for change delivery.
- Assist in the execution of IT procurement, disaster recovery testing and business continuity, and frameworks implementation and certification processes.
- Work with the leadership team to provide guidance on IT risks inherent in the delivery of technology services.
- Responsible for procedure governance and oversight.
- Execute and mature the IT Governance program in line with heightened standards and mandates.
- Support the development of the Architecture standards, policies, and guidelines for Data, IT and Systems to meet business requirements.
- Recommend and use systems, so the models, diagrams and other key governance information is captured, consistent, shared and kept updated by all teams.
- Perform personal administration, e.g., expenses, calendar, etc.
- Budget responsibility.
- Accountable for ensuring that the level of demand for change from the business is managed and understood.
- Accountable for ensuring systems are secure, balancing the ease of use against the need for security and ensuring there is a clearly defined security roadmap in place.
- Accountable for ensuring that clear roadmaps for all areas under the responsibility of IT are in place.
You will have previous experience within the Food/Manufacturing industry, preferably within the meat sector and have worked within different IT functions. Experience of leading an IT change function team is essential along with experience in process, documentation, and management of IT related risks.
You will have a proven ability to demonstrate value, build business cases, and gain sponsorship and have a high degree of systems implementation.
High levels of analytical skills, demonstrated through real life experience and introducing change are preferable along with excellent verbal and written communication skills; including communicating with both technical and non-technical clients and staff at all organisational levels with a customer orientated approach.
You will ideally be educated to degree level in an IT related discipline and also hold qualifications in ITIL, Agile, and Prince2.
Occasional travel to other sites within the business and suppliers is required along with a full drivers licence.
