Multi Skilled Engineer

Due to internal promotion we have an amazing opportunity available for an experienced Multi Skilled Engineer to join our client one of Europe’s leading privately-owned food processors at their site in Ellesmere.

Job Title: Multi Skilled Engineer 

Location:  Ellesmere

Salary: 32.000 – 36.000 DOE

Hours of Work – 4 on 4 off  5 30am-5 30pm, 5 30pm to 5 30am

Purpose of the role:

As the Retail Engineer you will possess a strong technical knowledge and be seen as the shift expert in at least one area of the factory or type of machinery. Working as a member of your shift team you will be responsible for maintaining the equipment OEE and minimising downtime. You will be accountable to the Engineering Manager/Assistant Managers but will report into and receive direction from your Engineering Supervisor regarding the day to day activities you will undertake.

Duties & Responsibilities

Record and log maintenance requests and fault repairs, attend breakdowns and repair in a timely and controlled manner.
Progress reporting to Engineering Management / Supervisor
Must be proactive to complete scheduled work plans, start-up checks etc. in a timely manner
Carryout special projects as required by the Engineering Management team
Comply with health and safety and food safety legislation

Liaise with the production team to ensure we supply our customer in a timely manner

It would be highly advantageous to have experience within Food Process Machinery

The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of ONC/NVQ in an Engineering related discipline, you will also ideally have completed an apprenticeship or an equivalent formal training programme in installation and maintenance that includes relevant practical experience.

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to take direction and challenge in a professional manner along with proven experience of planned maintenance systems, breakdown maintenance and installations and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

As a Site Engineer you will possess a strong technical knowledge and be seen as the shift expert in at least one area of the factory or type of machinery. Working as a member of your shift team you will be responsible for maintaining the equipment OEE and minimising downtime. The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of ONC/NVQ in an Electrical related discipline with 17th edition qualification, you will also ideally have completed an apprenticeship or an equivalent formal training programme in installation and maintenance that includes relevant practical experience.

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to take direction and challenge in a professional manner along with proven experience of planned maintenance systems, breakdown maintenance and installations and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

It is highly advantageous that you have experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Multi Skilled Engineer

We have an amazing opportunity available for an experienced Engineer to join our client one of Europe’s leading privately-owned food processors at their site in Leeming Bar.
Job Title: Multi Skilled Engineer

Location:  Leeming Barr

Salary: £31,500 – £42,000 – DOE

Hours of Work: 2 Days (7am – 7pm) – 2 Nights (7pm – 7am) – 4 off,

Purpose of the role:

As a Site Engineer you will possess a strong technical knowledge and be seen as the shift expert in at least one area of the factory or type of machinery. Working as a member of your shift team you will be responsible for maintaining the equipment OEE and minimising downtime, you will be report directly into the  Engineering Manager.


Duties & Responsibilities

It would be advantageous to be able to demonstrate relevant engineering competencies and have experience with meat processing & packaging machinery.

Record and log maintenance requests and fault repairs, attend breakdowns and repair in a timely and controlled manner.

Progress reporting to Engineering Management

Must be proactive to complete scheduled work plans, start-up checks etc. in a timely manner

Carryout special projects as required by the Engineering Management team

Comply with health and safety and food safety legislation

Liaise with the production team to ensure production KPIs are achieved.

The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of ONC/NVQ in both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.  Ideally having completed an apprenticeship or an equivalent formal training programme in installation and maintenance that includes relevant practical experience. Additional equipment specific training will be given.
You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to take direction and challenge in a professional manner along with proven experience of planned maintenance systems, breakdown maintenance and installations and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Job Title: Engineering Supervisor

Location:  Ellesmere, Shropshire

Hours of Work – 6am to 2 30pm (Mon-Fri)

This role of Engineering Supervisor is an integral part of the Engineering team ensuring both business and customer expectations are met. The role will require a dynamic individual who is able to build strong and effective working relationships as they will be responsible for managing the Day Shift Engineers. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the candidate will be required to work effectively and flexibly to ensure smooth running of production.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

•Participate in Engineering focused activities in support of manufacturing plant and equipment performance KPIs.

•Contribute towards continuous improvement projects.

•Support site technical issue resolution and completion of improvement actions through good engineering practices and guidance.

•Identify and share best practice and contribute towards raising awareness, improving performance and transitioning to a pro-active engineering culture.

•Carrying out preventative maintenance to schedule.

•Completion of reactive maintenance work when machinery breaks down to ensure impact on line efficiencies is minimised.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

•Team working on site development projects.

•Ensure high standards of engineering workmanship across the site.

•Contribute towards the development of existing and new standards for key items of equipment and facilities.

•Lead high standards of safety practices across the business.

Project Manager - Automation

Due to continued growth and system development a new opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager (Automation) to join our client one of Europe’s leading privately-owned food processors at their site in Doncaster

Job Title: Project Manager – Automation

Location:  Doncaster

Salary: Competitive

Hours of Work: –  45 Hours a week

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall Project Management;
  • Project Initiation with the Program Manager, including writing to the Project Charter
  • Project Planning to help create: Project Management Plans, Scope, Schedule, Budget, Risk Management Plan and Procurement documents.
  • Responsible for holding Project kick-off meetings
  • Project Execution including managing the project team, providing training as required, conducting procurements, executing the project according to the plan.
  • Being the link between Engineering & Operations to the project contracts and taking full ownership of any plant installations
  • Performing quality assurance and managing stakeholder engagement
  • Project Monitoring & Controlling. Continuously managing, measuring and forecasting performance against the performance measurement baseline of scope, schedule and cost. Performing; Change Control and Quality Control.
  • Controlling Communications, including streamlining information to key stakeholders
  • Risk management
  • Project Closing & Integration. Integrating the project into a cohesive whole, following plans, communicating, leading meeting, writing meeting notes and using issue logs.
  • Assisting with development of engineering standards with the Program Manager and Engineering Group
  • Providing direction re scope, design and procurement for new equipment
  • Ensuring installations conform to company standards and specifications
  • Perform and/or supervise automation software changes using appropriate Management of Change procedures
  • Maintain plant’s automation libraries i.e. PLC files, manuals, drawings etc.
  • Provide in-house training to operations and maintenance


Knowledge & Experience

The ideal candidate will be educated to Degree level in an Engineering related discipline and have previous experience within a similar position.

You will have strong Planning, Administration and organisational skills with the ability to lead from the front and also work well within a team environment.

Previous experience of managing equipment installations is essential along with the ability to understand a business case whilst creating measurable goals and objectives.

A willingness to travel to all UK sites is required so applicants needs to have a degree of flexibility around their hours of work.

A full UK driving licence is essential.
