Multi Skilled Engineer

Due to internal promotion we have an amazing opportunity available for an experienced Engineer to join our client one of Europe’s leading privately-owned food processors at their site in Shrewsbury.

Job Title: Multi Skilled Engineer 

Location:  Shrewsbury

Salary: £28.000 – 36.000 DOE

Hours of Work – 4 on 4 off – 5am-5pm & 5pm-5am

As a Site Engineer you will possess a strong technical knowledge and be seen as the shift expert in at least one area of the factory or type of machinery. Working as a member of your shift team you will be responsible for maintaining the equipment OEE and minimising downtime. You will be accountable to the Engineering Manager/Assistant Managers but will report into and receive direction from your Engineering Supervisor regarding the day to day activities you will undertake.

Duties & Responsibilities

Record and log maintenance requests and fault repairs, attend breakdowns and repair in a timely and controlled manner.
Progress reporting to Engineering Management / Supervisor
Must be proactive to complete scheduled work plans, start-up checks etc. in a timely manner
Carryout special projects as required by the Engineering Management team
Comply with health and safety and food safety legislation
Liaise with the production team to ensure we supply our customer in a timely manner

It would be highly advantageous to have experience within Food Process Machinery

The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of ONC/NVQ in an Electrical related discipline with 17th edition qualification, you will also ideally have completed an apprenticeship or an equivalent formal training programme in installation and maintenance that includes relevant practical experience.

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to take direction and challenge in a professional manner along with proven experience of planned maintenance systems, breakdown maintenance and installations and knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

It is highly advantageous that you have experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Purpose of the role:

Job Title: Trainee Engineer

Salary: £20,000 – £24,000 DOE
Hours of Work – 4 on 4 days/nights  5 30am to 5 30pm, 5 30pm to 5 30am

A Trainee Engineer is required to provide technical support in general engineering disciplines in the correction, prevention and elimination of technical problems in one of the most advanced food production facilities in Europe.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

•        Participate in engineering focused activities in support of manufacturing plant and equipment, excluding electrical

•        Ensure high factory reliability is achieved by performing quality routine machines and plant maintenance

•        Assist operations by building up and stripping down production equipment

•        Ensure optimum performance is achieved through effective and consistent setting of the production machinery

•        Work with your team to meet engineering & production targets

•        Actively seek self-development with the intention of becoming a senior engineer

•        Deliver engineering KPI’s to ensure visibility of supply engineering performance and required improvement for site

Purpose of the role:

Working as a member of your shift team you will be responsible for maintaining the equipment OEE and minimising downtime, you will be report directly into the  Engineering Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

It would be advantageous to be able to demonstrate relevant engineering competencies and have experience with meat processing & packaging machinery.

This role of Engineering Supervisor is an integral part of the Engineering team ensuring both business and customer expectations are met. The role will require a dynamic individual who is able to build strong and effective working relationships as they will be responsible for managing both Day and Night Shift Engineers. Reporting to the Retail Engineering Manager, the candidate will be required to work effectively and flexibly to ensure smooth running of production.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

•Participate in Engineering focused activities in support of manufacturing plant and equipment performance KPIs.

•Contribute towards continuous improvement projects.

•Support site technical issue resolution and completion of improvement actions through good engineering practices and guidance.

•Completion of reactive maintenance work when machinery breaks down to ensure impact on line efficiencies is minimised.

Purpose of the role:

This role is an integral part of the Engineering team ensuring both business and customer expectations are met. The role will require a dynamic individual who is able to build strong and effective working relationships, as they will be responsible for supporting the Engineering Manager in maintaining department standards.

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of the engineering team, working closely with operations and site management to ensure key target outputs are achieved.
  • Ensure optimum performance is achieved from plant and equipment
  • Contribute to improving production efficiency
  • Lead the setting of engineering standards across the site
  • Provide leadership and expertise
  • Support the engineering function aligning with the site engineering strategy and annual engineering departmental targets
  • Liaising with operations manager to ensure smooth running of production and attending daily meetings to review
  • Assist in assigned long-term preventative maintenance programs and projects

Purpose of the role:

The Assistant Engineering Manager will be tasked with reviewing Machinery performance & Efficiency and developing the Preventative maintenance strategy, Analysing preventative Maintenance and Effectiveness, Reliability engineering techniques, Route cause analysis, Condition monitoring and analysis. C.I Initiatives, Energy Reduction, Planned Maintenance Schedules, Engineering Training, Standard Operating Procedures, Capital Projects.

To review and assess to make recommendations for effective and efficient practice of the maintenance and fault repairs carried out, breakdown reports, operating reports, time sheets, cost justification reports etc.

To manage the engineering budget within the specifications and consistently achieve the required expectations, searching to improve upon these regularly.

To communicate with the production Supervisor / representative who report issues and keep them informed of progress throughout where it is apparent your Management experience would help.

Ensure all Engineering Shift Engineers carry out excellent health and safety, food safety and personal hygiene procedures at all times within the factory.

To ensure the site and the engineering team comply with all applicable engineering based legislation.

To keep up to date and abreast with all engineering legislation and attend all relevant training courses.

To attend all group health and safety / engineering meetings and contribute accordingly.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a FMCG Manufacturing environment managing effectiveness on preventative machinery including Piranha.  You will be looking to progress from your current role having had experience of managing teams and leading shifts in the tasks required.

Scada Engineer

We have a brand new opportunity available for a Scada Engineer to join our client one of Europe’s leading privately-owned food processors at their site in Doncaster.

Job Title: Scada Engineer
Location:  Doncaster
Salary: 30,000 – 45,00 DOE
Hours of Work:  Monday to Friday – 7am – 4pm – Flexibility required in line with business needs

Purpose of the role:

Our client has recently had a small SCADA system installed for 2 of the Sites production lines along with new PLCs installed to control the line and these interface with the existing PLC machines.

They are looking to recruit a SCADA engineer with PLC programming skills to continue developing both the SCADA and Line Control systems.

You will also help maintain/achieve production hygiene standards & production targets at all times.

 
Essential Requirements:

  • You will be educated to Degree or HNC/D in Electrical / Electronic / Computer Science Engineering with previous commercial experience.
  • Experience in database development and maintenance. SQL, MySQL or similar.
  • PLC Programming & Commissioning – Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi or Schneider.
  • You will be proficient with MS Office. Word, Excel & Outlook & working knowledge of MS Project required.
  • Good communication & Inter-personal skills are essential as you will be interacting with employees on all levels
  • You will be a strong organiser who is able to schedule work around production, so the ability to work well and politely under pressure within a large team is essential.
  • Flexibility with working hours and occasional overtime or weekend work will be required.

Desired Additional Skills:

  • Electrical Control Panel Design.
  • Electrical Fault Finding Skills.
  • 17th / 18th IEE Wiring Regulations.
  • Understanding of Food & Beverage standards & codes of practice advantageous.
  • Instrument / Sensor Configuration, Setup or Calibration.
  • Robotics / Motion Control for potential inhouse projects.
  • Working knowledge of Pneumatics / Mechanical Systems.
  • Experience of working with Ignition would be highly advantageous
