As we are all aware in the recruitment world sometimes finding a candidate that ticks all of your client’s requirements can be tricky so it’s even more of a blow when they have confirmed they will attend an interview and then withdraw their application.
Unfortunately, this is part and parcel of the recruitment world. It does happen, it’s not personal although can be very frustrating.
The best way to deal with this is to thank the candidate for informing you of their decision as they could have just not turned up for Interview (which would have been worse for you).
Ask them if their mind is made up 100% or are there any factors that are bringing them to this decision, they could have been offered their dream job so NO amount of salary increase may change this
Congratulate them on their new role and wish them all the best for the future, remember if they were a candidate you were happy to represent then you may well cross paths again, they may even be a contact for you in the future.
