It’s all too easy at interview to try and be something that you’re not. You are trying to impress, make all the right eye contact & conversation – that sometimes this ends up not giving a true representation of yourself to your potential employer.
I have spoken with clients over the years that often say “the candidate we hired wasn’t who we saw at the interview”, “I didn’t recognise the person who joined us from how they interviewed”.
It’s so important that a client makes the right hiring decision for their business so I can’t stress enough that you only look at opportunities that you feel you can bring value to, have a real passion for the industry or company and genuinely want to join them.
Please don’t sit in an interview feeling that you are putting on an act and do not genuinely want to join the employer as this won’t have a great outcome for either party in the end.
